After tasting success and living the life of a rock star for nearly two decades touring the world 'Hootie & The Blowfish' guitarist Mark Bryan has returned to his childhood Maryland hometown and has been making waves playing gigs with some old high school friends. The music news and reviews website Musicloversblog.com recently reported Bryan's new band 'Mark Bryan And The Screaming Trojans' have been getting some good reviews since forming in Montgomery Village, MD. earlier this year.

The music blog site picked up on a recent in depth article from the Frederick News Post by Katie Crowe that reported the old high school friends Mark Bryan, Kevin Heister, Scott Tucker, Ricky Slezak and Steve Lipton had been playing some gigs together. According to the Music Lovers Blog report the band earned rave reviews for their open 4th of July performance in Baker Park, Frederick, MD.

They then followed that by playing a homecoming gig at the Montgomery Village Lawn Theatre (now known as the Bowie Music Pavilion) in Montgomery Village, MD in early August. With Hootie & The Blowfish seemingly on an extended hiatus it's not known whether they plan to get together to record any new material or play live again. Mark Bryan's recent intimate gigs have given fans of the 'Hootie & The Blowfish' an unexpected opportunity to hear Mark Bryan's distinctive country tinged rock guitar at close quarters. Whether they'll get to see the original band reform is another question that so far remains unanswered.
