The Quest For Peace During the Holidays and Throughout the Year

While we may often act in our one self-interest we must guard against becoming so selfish and self-absorbed that we neglect to consider the need for others to pursue their own goals and dreams. We have a right to live our lives as we see fit and as great a responsibility to find common ground with others and not to dictate to them how they should live theirs. I believe that that is a strong part of the message of that first Christmas. Others are not wrong, "less-than" nor deserved to be clobbered over the head just because they are different from us or do not share our point of view. Narrow interests must give way to a broader understanding and compromise.
